Catta Faking 101
Prof. Vovin
Summer '08

This is a basic guide for faking when asked to by the allaince

Rule one is it's called catta fake for a reason. Sending mounted or foot troops is not helpful. Actually sending these troops hurts the mission considerably. When you send troops to a target and you fake troops arrive 8 hours before everyone else and they are seen to be fake that person can easily assume that the rest of the attacks comming in are also fake. This eliminates a target and costs us much more than if you just didnt send anything. ONLY SEND CATTAS.

These should be sent just like a real attack 1 catta per wave close together with less than 10 seconds in the whole wave. You should be told how many waves to send.

Dont be cheap. The hammers are risking thousands of troops 5 or 10 or even 20 cattas are nothing compared to the losses they will suffer.

Be on time. You should be given a time for your hit to land. It is essential you send your attacks on time. If the enemy sees all attacks on target A is to land within 20 mins of each other but all other targets have attacks landing hours apart it's not hard to figure out who they are hitting.

If the target is a enemy 15 cropper then fake other enemy 15 croppers.

If you are targeting one enemy look for allied cities far away from him to fake. This will cause there to be a serious delay in travel time making it hard for the alliance to ping pong defenses. They will have to travel to a city be returned and resent. If I were to hit target A 15 hours away I would first ask for fakes to be sent to target B 20 hours away to land a 5 PM. Since the real target is 15 hours away if he were to be hit at 5PM then the attacks would launch 5 hours after the fakes. Reins will have to get to their target and then go back and then it would take 5 more hours to reach B. That at the very very least a 10 hour window plus travel from the sending town. Since the attacks should land within a hour of each other there is no possibility of stopping it once the reins are sent, UNLESS you give away your hand and hint to the real target. Even then everyone would have to be on their toes to get them there in time.

Trigger happy people will start screaming for reins in a panic. So when the real target calls too bad reins are low as they have been sent elsewhere so the main target will have to take the table scraps. Of course the strategist should be the one figuring this out and give the real attackers and the fakers proper launch times accordingly. This is another reason to send out your fakes at the right time.

Keep in mind long distance battles require great strategy. A hit from 16 hours away has plenty of time to be scrutinized. If you cant do the job tell the person who asked you. A fakers job is just as important as a hammers.

If you are hitting one town and your men successfully fake 4 others then you are theoretically reducing the defenses of the enemy to 1/5th. This is how wars are won. Do your part and dont get lazy and cheap. If you dont have cattas your ass better start training them now!
